The 91st annual Christmas bazaar by the Yachats Ladies Club will be starting on Friday, Nov. 30, and continuing on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1 and 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. all days at the YLC Clubhouse, located at 286 W Third St. in Yachats.
On Saturday only, a homemade lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Sloppy Joes with a side of macaroni salad and choice of coffee or tea for $8. And pie slices will be served all day. This is the last chance for the famous Yachats Ladies Club pie this year. To go boxes are available.
Admission to this family-friendly event is free. This is the longest running holiday bazaar in the county, and it affords the public an opportunity to support the local community and find unusual handmade gift items at the same time. All items are handmade by club members.
Those stopping by will find all kinds of knitted items, from slippers to hats, scarves, sweaters and fingerless gloves. There will also be jewelry, journals, holiday décor, Christmas aprons and place mats, sturdy tote bags, afghans and small quilts, cards and bookmarks, baby items and gifts for children, pet gifts and much more. Many of these items are exclusive to the Yachats Ladies Club.
A selection of holiday edible goodies including candies, cakes, cookies and breads will be sold, as well.
Support My Sisters’ Place
A special project of The Yachats Ladies Club is creating "Welcome Bags" for My Sisters' Place, a safe haven for individuals escaping domestic violence. Each welcome bag tote includes towel sets and toiletries for the adults at the shelter. For a donation of $25, a welcome bag will be delivered to My Sisters' Place by the club to welcome a person in crisis, and 100 percent of the monies received go back into supplies to create more welcome bags. Tax deductible donation receipts for this purchase are available from the cashier.
The scholarship quilt
Each year, The Yachats Ladies Club offers a handmade quilt to raise money for the Yachats Ladies Club Scholarship Fund. The 2018 quilt, "Light In The Storm," is 77-inches by 89-inches and features a nautical theme with a lighthouse focal point in beach colors of various shades of turquoise and orange. It will be on display during the weekend. Tickets are $1 each, and they will be sold throughout the weekend with the drawing happening at the clubhouse on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. The winner will be notified by phone.
