Wolf Tree Brewery wins award

The Oregon Beer Awards were held on Feb. 26 in front of a sold-out crowd at Portland’s Revolution Hall, and Wolf Tree Brewery of Seal Rock was among the award winners.

In the state's only double-blind tasting competition, 75 medals were awarded in 25 beer-style categories. Winners were chosen by 85 judges from an entry pool of 1,090 beers submitted by 133 breweries representing 44 cities. Additionally, an academy of more than 200 industry professionals picked the area's top breweries and festivals in a two-round ballot system.

Wolf Tree Brewery, owned by Joe and Taryn Hitselberger, was awarded a silver medal in the “Stout” category for its Wolf Tree Brewery Ship Biscuits.

The Hitselbergers opened Wolf Tree Brewery in 2013. In August of 2017, they opened Wolf Tree Brewery Taproom in South Beach to provide a venue for people to sample their beers. The taproom is located at 4590 SE Harborton St., next to the Oregon Coast Community College campus.
