William Robert Lettenmaier, 65 years old, of Toledo, Oregon passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 10th after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Bill was born February 25, 1952 in Newport, Oregon. He attended Newport High School graduating in 1970. Bill started his working career at the King of the Seas restaurant as a dishwasher. His love of cars brought him to his next job as an auto detailer for Hayden Motors in Newport. His next and final job was at the Georgia Pacific pulp and paper mill in Toledo, Oregon from 1978 until his retirement 39 years later on April 2, 2017. He spent many of his years at the mill as a very hard working, respected janitor and lubrication tech helper. He was able to attend a retirement ceremony at the mill in his honor on May 31st where many coworkers, including his father Robert, were present to wish him well.
Bill cherished being a long time Boy Scout Leader of Troop 30 in Toledo. He enjoyed the many camping and hiking trips as well as other events and activities with the scouts.
Bill loved yard work, fishing, his different dogs he had over the years, and muscle cars, especially the Chevrolet Camaro.
He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Lettenmaier and wife Dorothy Lettenmaier.
He is survived by his wife Donna, father Robert Lettenmaier, step mother Cheryl Lettenmaier, son Justin Lettenmaier, daughter Christine Lettenmaier, brother Frederick Lettenmaier and sisters Louise Martucci, Stella Rostad and Bonnie Bacall.
A celebration of life will be held at the AWPPW Local 13 union hall in Toledo, OR on Monday June 19th at 2:00 p.m.
