A burlesque and circus-inspired novelty show is coming to Moby Dick’s in Newport. This variety show is set to take place every Sunday, from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., beginning on Sunday, Dec. 23.

The host of this open mic variety show will be Matt “Molotov” Bouvier, the “sword-swallowing sideshow svenghali.”

“We invite you to embrace this season of sharing and share your special talents with us,” he said. “We’re calling all entertainers in every possible genre to come out, perform, have some fun, some laughs, and hone that new act you’ve been working on. All art forms are welcome — novelty acts, dancers, singers, actors, jugglers, belly dancers, circus acts, sideshow freaks, trained dogs, other unusual animals acts, burlesque dancers, drag queens, comedians, thespians, poets, painters, piano players (you bring your own piano), musicians, and yes even magicians.”

Both amateurs and professionals are welcome. Signups start at 8 p.m. — bring your best five-to-seven-minute act.

There is no cover charge. Moby Dick’s is located at 448 S Coast Highway in Newport. For more information, call 541-265-7847.
