On Sunday, July 26, shortly after 7 p.m., the Oregon State Police responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on Highway 34 near milepost 14, about four miles east of Tidewater.
A preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 Ducati motorcycle, operated by Kenneth Robert Kearney, 51, of Waldport, was westbound negotiating a sweeping left turn when, for an unknown reason, the motorcycle went off the westbound shoulder. It came to a stop in the roadside brush.
Kearney was ejected off the motorcycle during the crash, and he sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
One lane of Highway 34 was closed for approximately three hours while an investigation was underway. OSP was assisted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Central Oregon Coast Fire and Rescue, the Seal Rock Fire Department, Pacific West Ambulance and ODOT Incident Response.
