LINCOLN COUNTY — Though ballots for the Nov. 3 general election have only been mailed to registered military and overseas Lincoln County voters by the Lincoln County Clerk’s Office, as of Thursday, Sept. 17, drop boxes are available to receive ballots in nine locations throughout the county.

Outside ballot boxes are now available to voters 24 hours a day through 8 p.m. Nov. 3, the day of the election, at the Lincoln County Courthouse and Newport City Hall in Newport, at Lincoln City City Hall, the Toledo Police Station, Waldport City Hall, Depoe Bay City Hall, Siletz City Hall and Yachats City Hall. Indoor ballot-drop locations are also available at some sites during specific times. For complete details for all drop box locations in Lincoln County, including times and dates of availability, see the accompanying table.

Registered voters may also submit votes via the U.S. mail using the pre-paid postage on their ballots. Postage is also not required when submitting ballots via drop box.

Ballots for out-of-state voters are scheduled to be mailed Oct. 5, and remaining ballots are slated for mailing Oct. 14. Voters should receive their ballots on or around Oct. 17. Ballots must be received at designated sites by 8 p.m. Nov. 3.

The county recommends that those mailing ballots do so no later than Oct. 27 to ensure it’s properly postmarked before Election Day.

The final day to register to vote in Oregon in order to be eligible for the general election is Oct. 13. To begin the voter registration process, visit bit.ly/33RsqDq. Registration cards are also available at the Lincoln County Clerk’s Office (225 W Olive St., Room 201, Newport), all U.S. Post Offices and many banks. To request a voter registration card by mail, call the county clerk’s office ay 541-265-4131.

The office of Lincoln County Clerk Dana Jenkins recently issued the county’s voters’ pamphlet, available online by visiting bit.ly/35Yg9Qb. It serves as a guide for information on measures appearing on the ballot, includes a sample ballot, lists drop box locations and features details on local candidates for office who submitted information to the clerk’s office.

Information provided in the voters’ pamphlet includes a sample ballot, specific text of measures appearing on ballots, candidate occupation, education, background, prior government experience, a candidate statement and photo. The voters’ pamphlet features 35 local candidate profiles of the 49 residents running for office.

Keep in mind the sample ballot found at the Lincoln County Clerk website (www.co.lincoln.or.us/clerk) and within the voters’ pamphlet will be different than those received by individual voters.

The sample ballot issued by the clerk’s office contains all Lincoln County measures and offices up for election. The ballots registered voters receive in the mail from the clerk’s office will only contain measures and offices up for election that the voter is eligible to elect.

Further questions should be directed to the clerk’s office phone number listed above or sent via email to [email protected].
