Veterans receive Quilts of Valor

The Oregon Coastal Quilters Guild presented nine local U. S. Veterans with patriotic quilts as part of the guild’s Quilts of Valor program. The presentation took place at Trinity United Methodist Church in Toledo on Sunday. March 31. These quilts are a way of extending gratitude to the veterans for their service to this country. 

Receiving quilts were Charles Payne, Army; Ron Manning, Air Force; Clarence Weaver, Army; and Phil Lamberson, Navy. Patty Meyers received the quilt for Bob Meyers, Army National Guard, and Candis Smith and grandson Carson Bushnell received the quilt for Hugh Smith.   Both of these veterans were unable to attend due to health issues. 

Recipients Gary Hoffman, Navy; Dave Boyce, Coast Guard; and Ray Jones, Navy; were unable to attend and will receive their quilts soon.  Representing the guild were Twy Hoch, Virginia Dale and her husband, Larry and Rose Shaw.
