Tribe attempts to combat effects of climate change


NEWPORT — The Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians is teaming with like-minded groups to mitigate global warming impacts on the Oregon Coast. “With tribes there’s a lot of emphasis on history, and there’s a lot of emphasis on the future,” said CTSI Tribal Shellfish Biologist Laura Brown. “One of the themes that has come up in a lot of the meetings I’ve been to is to sustain your natural resources for seven generations in advance.”
