NEWPORT — The marbeled murrelet, an elusive bird that forages at sea then in the semi-dark flies at 50 to 60 miles per hour inland to nest in stands of mature forest, is endangered and dwindling. With funds specified by the Oregon State Legislature, they are being tracked as part of a long-term, large-scale study.
