Amity has been a thorn in the Taft softball team’s side for the past two seasons.
Finishing at the top of the West Valley League is a constant goal for the No. 1 Tigers (7-5, 1-0 WVL) but the No. 8 Warriors (6-4, 2-1) have been a roadblock in each of the past two seasons, finishing two games ahead in the standings.
With a 4-3, come-from-behind victory on Friday, April 6, Taft notched its first WVL win and put an end to the current six-game losing streak to Amity dating back to 2015.
“This one was pretty huge, our main goal is to finish at the top of the league and Amity always seems to give us issues with that and we always fall short even if we are ahead,” said head coach Kassandra Stuart. “This win showed that we are a little more seasoned and ready to play, so it was a big win for sure.”
