LINCOLN CITY — Five days after Christmas the county received a gift. The country’s rivalry between Toledo and Waldport received an extra matchup in girls basketball during the Kiwanis Holiday Tournament on Dec. 30.
It was the Boomers who got the upper hand in the first match between the rival schools, beating the Irish 39-25 in the third-place game.
“I’m really proud of the way the girls played today,” said Toledo head coach Mychal Williams. “We came ready for an early-morning game against a rival who’s playing well. This is a nice non-conference warm-up for our conference schedule.”
