Tigers pour it on in second half to advance

LINCOLN CITY — A slow start for the Taft Tigers turned into resounding 7-0 victory over Nyssa in the first round of the 3A state playoffs. The boys soccer team scored five goals in the second half turned a close game into a blowout to advance to the quarterfinal round. “It feels good, especially with how we finished the game,” said head coach Justin James. “The first half wasn’t ‘our ball’ but in the second half everyone was moving and passing then everything gets a lot easier.” The No. 2 seed Tigers dominated possession in the first half, but couldn’t convert those chances into goals against the 15th-seeded Bulldogs.
