The power of storytelling

Alex Lluminquinga will share the ancestral music, dance and culture of the indigenous people of the Andes during an online event on Sunday, sponsored by the Newport Public Library.

Online event set for Oct. 11

The Newport Public Library will celebrate the power of storytelling to unite communities on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. on the library’s Facebook page and Newport Public Library YouTube channel called, “Noche de Cuentos.” This event is occurring during Latino Heritage Month, (Sept. 15-Oct. 15) and is free and open to all ages.

Alex Lluminquinga and a friend from the Guatemalan community in Newport will share the ancestral music, dance and culture of the indigenous people of the Andes. The focus is storytelling, which can be expressed through music, dance and shared stories. 

People can also pick up a Noche de Cuentos storytelling kit through the library take out service at the Newport Public Library while supplies last.
