The Lark and the Loon, a songwriting duo consisting of husband/wife team Jeff Rolfzen and Rocky Steen-Rolfzen, will perform on Friday, Aug. 9, and Saturday, Aug. 10, in Lincoln City.
Their Friday performance will be at Autobahn 101, located 1512 SW Highway 101. On Saturday, they will be at the Black Squid Beerhouse, located at 3001 SW Highway 101. Performances begin at 7 p.m. each night, and there is no cover charge.
This duo brings distinct writing styles together in what they call an exploration in the etymology of American music. They take inspiration from prewar blues and jazz, Irish dance music, sea shanties and traditional American music. Their debut album, "Songbirds and Fog," was recorded in their cabin home in the Ozarks after a period of heavy isolation and was met with critical acclaim. They have since released two more albums: 2018’s “Homestead Hands” and 2019’s “2."
Heralded for their harmonies, duets and musicianship, the couple has enjoyed touring extensively both in the United States and abroad. When not on the road, they enjoy the comfort of their Ozark home where they garden in the rocky soil, hike the scenic hills and soak in the tranquility before their next venture.
