This whole week, we have had family in town for the opening of archery season, and not only have the boys been hunting the Alsea unit hard, we’ve also packed in as much coastal fun as possible into this time together.
We’ve taken our family on several crabbing trips out in the Alsea Bay in our new crab boat that we purchased specifically for this week. We’ve taken them to Seal Rock to check out the tide pools and harvest wild mussels to go alongside our fresh Dungeness crab for a family-style seafood feast. And we’ve taken them to the Alsea River for a full afternoon of fun in the sun and to snag a bunch of crawdads for a giant crawfish boil.
As much as we have enjoyed all of these water-to-table meals, a big ole spaghetti feed was definitely in order — family week just wouldn’t feel the same without it. So I prepared enough of my spaghetti to feed a small army, alongside some warm, homemade garlic bread for a true family style spaghetti feed.
If you’re looking for a great spaghetti recipe for the venison you’ve harvested this hunting season, or perhaps one to substitute with the ground beef you have in your freezer, here is my family-style spaghetti recipe.
