LINCOLN CITY — It wasn’t too long ago that the Taft girls soccer program was getting on a bus with fewer than 11 players to go play a game.
Now in 2018, with an increase in interest of joining the program, the Tigers are looking into the possibilities of adding a junior varsity team.
“We are really excited at the possibility that we can have a feeder program for our varsity kids,” said head coach Joey Arce-Torres, “and get them more time in terms of minutes on the field for the girls.”
While the Tigers have been training and conditioning for the last seven weeks, they’ve averaged around 16-18 girls who show up and attend the early-morning, non-mandatory training sessions on a daily basis. However, there have been more than 30 different girls show up throughout the summer.
