Students help with beach cleanup

Oregon Connections Academy field trip

Students from Oregon Connections Academy, the state’s leading, tuition-free online public charter school, gathered at Newport’s Nye Beach on Friday, March 9, to take part in a field trip aimed to helping to clean up the environment. The students, along with parents and teachers, worked with a representative from the Ocean Blue Project to gather plastics littering Nye Beach. As part of its citizen science program, Connections Academy students will report their efforts in Newport to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
