Steve Beck passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Monday, December 14, 2020. Steve was born to Robert and Edith Beck on August 31, 1955 in Castro Valley, CA. Steve grew up and lived in California for much of his life, until moving to Portland, Oregon with his wife Susan, 20 years ago. Steve and Susan fell in love with Newport 17 years ago and moved there from Portland and started their insurance agency. He was dedicated to their insurance business and went way beyond the scope of his insurance agent profession to help their clientele and friends in any way he could. As a hobby, Steve developed an expertise and passion for collecting, buying and selling art and antiques. He was also a huge sports fan and enjoyed golf. He loved the Newport area and community and volunteered to serve on many non-profit boards over the past 17 years. This included Friends of Yaquina Lighthouses, Pacific Communities Health District Foundation, Lincoln County Food Share, Destination Newport, Northwest Coastal Housing, Port of Newport and Yaquina River Museum of Art. Steve touched many lives and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Susan; his sister Linda (Taos); brother, Ron (Newport); and brother Dan (Belize). He was loved by his in-laws and also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Robert and mother Edith. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to Lincoln County Food Share, or a wonderful local non-profit organization of your choice. Arrangements are being entrusted to Bateman’s Funeral Home. Additional plans are currently on hold.
