Sleepy Hollow faces tree shortage

Sleepy Hollow Christmas Trees in Waldport will be closed this season due to the shortage of Christmas trees. Started in 1987 by Phil Spulnik, SHCT has been a U-CUT operation with trees sold to the people of the local communities. The trees shortage is due to excellent repeat and new business each year and the local drought in 2017 and 2018, which has stunted growth in the farm’s younger trees.

Located on Lakeside Drive in Waldport, Spulnik said that the younger trees put on good growth this year and that next season opening will depend on the growth this coming year. Currently, SHCT has a lot of younger trees, so the future looks promising.
