The Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club celebrated a new year with its annual fire extinguisher shoot, held on Sunday, Dec. 30, at the gun range just north of Siletz.
Around 40 first extinguishers that had been taken out of service by Valley Fire Control were donated to the club for the event. These were set up at distances ranging from 50 yards to 500 yards, and people could shoot pistols or rifles at the targets. Each hit sent a cloud of white powder into the air.
