Shirley Elaine Wolfe, 87, passed away in her home in Waldport with her family present. She was born to Arvid Larson and Caroline Klundt in Vancouver, Wa. It was in Vancouver that she met and married Robert Wolfe on October 17, 1949.
Robert and Shirley were married just a few weeks shy of 70 years. Together they raised six children; Donald Wolfe, Arnold Wolfe, Linda Hunter (Wolfe), Robert Wolfe Jr., William Wolfe, and James Wolfe. They also had a trucking company named R. Wolfe Trucking, and Shirley was the book keeper as well as a homemaker. She made meals from scratch for her family, and her homemade Macaroni and Cheese was a favorite. Shirley also worked at Patterson True Value and Newport Cannery.
You would often find Shirley surrounded by beautiful pastel colors, listening to country music, and planning for the next holiday to come. Her home was a favored place for friends and family to gather, filling her space with conversing, laughter, and sharing the love of community.
Shirley loved to be surrounded by her family and friends, sitting and listening to the voices and joining in with the stories while sharing her freshly baked Snicker-doodle cookies. Oh, and her garden! Red roses being her favorite flower, she just loved her gardening.
Shirley is survived by her husband Robert; her sons Donald (Patti), Arnold, William (Sherri) and James, and daughter Linda (Bob); her nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son Robert Jr.; brother Harvey Larson; sister Francis Schweitz.
Memorial services will be held at the Waldport Community Senior Center on October 12, 2019 starting from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Memorial arrangements are entrusted to Batemans Funeral Home.
