Shirle M. Webster (87) passed away in Newport, OR on April 2, 2019.
Shirle was born in Stockton, CA on October 23, 1931 to Abel (Jack) and Edith L. Reed. She was raised in Stockton and Fresno, CA where she graduated from Fresno High School in 1949. After high school, Shirle married and settled in Visalia, CA where she raised her family.
In the early 80’s she returned to college at College of the Sequoias where she discovered a love and aptitude for computer science. She developed extensive computer skills and became proficient at many programs as computers became prevalent in schools and businesses. In 1986 she moved to Newport, Oregon where she started her own business as a medical transcriptionist. She worked for several local physicians for 20 years before retiring.
Survivors include her children, Debbie Harland (Greg) Palser, Brad (Mary Anne) Webster, and Blake (Elaine) Webster; grandchildren Shawn Harland and Mercedes O’Leary (Ben) Harness; and her much beloved great-grandchildren, Morgan and Evelyn Harness. She will also be missed by her cousin David Jackson. She was predeceased by her parents and a daughter, Susan Webster O’Leary. A very special thank you goes out to her long-time friend and caregiver, Jeanine Hecht.
Shirle enjoyed many activities and hobbies over the years including sewing, needlepoint, movies, reminiscing about travel adventures, live theater productions, and caring for her adored cat. She was a wonderful piano player and played for pleasure most of her life. Shirle was a voracious reader with a curious mind and extensive knowledge about Italy and ancient times, balanced with an occasional romance novel.
A memorial service will be held for Shirle in Visalia, California at a later date.
