Sherri Lynn Green Eide went to be with Jesus on November 9, 2018 at the age of 68. She courageously battled an auto immune condition for the past 30 years. Sherri was born June 10, 1950 in Sanger, California, to parents Jacob (Bud) and Pauline Green. She later moved to Newport, OR with her family, graduating from Newport High School in 1968, then attended Linn Benton Community College. As a young adult, Sherri moved to Petersburg, Alaska to work in the fishing industry where she met and married John Frederick Eide, on April 15, 1975. Together they owned and fished the gillnetters Meredith E, Sherri Lynn and the Melissa Lynn. She was also a bookkeeper and shop owner of the Scooter’s Corner Ice Cream Parlor in Petersburg. Her favorite job was raising her two precious children and later loving and spoiling her four grandchildren. Sherri attended Salem Evangelical Church and loved worship, singing in the choir, and fellowship with her Sunday School class which ministered to her through her many health challenges. She loved music and loved to sing especially with her sisters and her brother. Music became her avenue to show her love and heart to everyone. She led many adult and children’s choirs through the years at her church in Petersburg. Sherri is preceded in death by her husband, John, her father, Jacob L. Bud Green and nephew Scott Updenkelder. She is survived by her two children, James Eide of Keizer, Oregon and Melissa Hammerstrom of Ravensdale, Washington, her husband Derek Hammerstrom and four grandchildren Skotland, Iliana, Lars, and Laasya Hammerstrom. Also, sisters Anita Secrist (Dan), Patti Kimball (Bill), Shirley Updenkelder (Doug), Lori Adams(Eric) and her brother, Jake Green (Nancy). She will be laid to rest in Petersburg, Alaska with her husband John Eide.
