Seafood & Wine Festival will provide to-go, online event

The Newport Seafood & Wine Festival, presented by Chinook Winds Casino Resort, will return for the 44th year to Newport on Feb. 26-28, 2021.

Although it will look different, the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce hopes to provide a memorable experience and great Northwest wines and seafood to attendees while ensuring safety for all involved.

The festival experience will be in two parts. First, attendees will purchase a “to-go” festival basket on the Seafood & Wine Festival website to pick up and enjoy during their stay in Newport. The basket will include two bottles of wine (from a great selection of Pacific Northwest wines) and two commemorative 2021 wine glasses. There will also be options to add festival merchandise and a seafood picnic basket or Local Ocean Dock Box meal kit to prepare later.

Attendees will pick up their “to-go” basket at the Rogue warehouse in South Beach — next door to where the festival tent is usually placed — at a scheduled time during the weekend. They will exit through the warehouse, peruse a few spaced-out festival vendors for a limited amount of time, and take their festival basket back to their home, vacation rental or hotel and enjoy the seafood and wine items with their group.

Second, an interactive virtual festival experience will be held online that Saturday evening, with live wine tasting, a winemaking demonstration, a seafood cooking demonstration, tips on the coastal seafood industry from a local expert, trivia and prizes courtesy of Chinook Winds Casino Resort.

The “to-go” festival baskets and scheduled admission to the event will be available on the website starting this month. Baskets will also be available to ship for an additional fee.

The Newport Chamber will also be representing craft vendors on the website for patrons to shop. Those who have purchased a “to-go” festival basket will receive a promo code to use at all craft vendors’ online shopping platforms. Each purchase made will be between the purchaser and vendors.

The Newport Chamber wants to encourage attendees to safely enjoy the coast while respecting all travel and lodging guidelines.
