PUD responds to outage

LINCOLN COUNTY — Central Lincoln People’s Utility District (PUD) customers — about 8,000 from the south end of Yaquina Bay Bridge to south of Yachats — lost power for about 20 minutes on Wednesday morning, Jan. 9.

“A small landslide on North Bay Road in Toledo caused a couple of fir trees to touch our lines, which didn’t damage them but resulted in a fault between two phases, opening a breaker, which immediately shuts off power,” said Chris Chandler, PUD public affairs officer.

“A tree crew went out and removed a few trees after the incident as a safeguard,” Chandler explained. “We did some switching and got power restored quickly.”
