OSP seeks public’s help in unlawful killing of elk

The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is seeking information about the illegal killing of a bull and cow elk around Aug. 22 along U.S. Forest Service Road 5390 just outside of Waldport.

The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for the public’s help locating the person or persons responsible for the unlawful killing of a spike bull elk and cow elk in Lincoln County.

On Sunday, Aug. 23, a Newport OSP fish and wildlife trooper discovered a deceased spike bull and cow elk on the U.S. Forest Service Road  5390 just outside of Waldport.

The cow elk was left to waste with no meat removed from the carcass, and it was not salvageable. Most of the meat had been taken from the spike elk. According to OSP, the elk were most likely shot the evening prior, on Saturday, Aug. 22.
