One year later, aerial spray ban still holds


NEWPORT — The hotly contested ban on using aerial spraying of pesticides to manage land has now passed one year since it was approved by Lincoln County voters, although it still faces a challenge in the court system. Passed on a slim vote margin of 61 and certified on June 5, 2017, the ban went into effect to stop forest management companies from engaging in practices that include spraying pesticides from helicopters or planes on their land.
