Okto-Fur-Fest coming to Florence

Wiener Dog Races on Saturday

The Florence Events Center, The Siuslaw News, and the Florence Wiener Dog Races are partnering together to bring a new event to Florence — Okto-Fur-Fest.

The event happens Saturday, Oct. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Florence Events Center, 715 Quince St. There will be Oktoberfest-themed music, games, food, and family fun. Brats, beer, and wine will be available for purchase.

The wiener dog races begin at 1 p.m. These fierce competitors will sprint head-to-head on a custom-made track inside the Florence Events Center.

To enter your dachshund for $10 (includes entry to the event) contact race organizer Jeanna Petersen at 541-902-3529. New this year is a race for all breeds under 15 pounds.

Registration and raffle proceeds will be donated to the Florence Van Fans, a nonprofit that transports cancer patients daily between Florence and Eugene at no charge.

Entry to the event is $2. An extra $5 will get you a VIP seat and wristband. Children 5 and under are free. Tickets are available at the Florence Events Center box office or at the door the day of the event. For more information, contact the Florence Events Center at 541-997-1994 or visit EventCenter.org.
