Most final exams aren’t necessarily the kind of thing you’d want to attend as an audience member. The final exam for the chorus students at Oregon Coast Community College, however, is a different story.
At 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, in the Commons of OCCC’s Central County Campus in South Beach, the OCCC Chorus Class will perform its final concert for the fall term. The performance is free to attend.
The class has been working on the repertoire for the 11 weeks of the term and will perform under the direction of Mary Lee Scoville, music instructor. New singers are welcome every term. Selections to be presented on Tuesday include an arrangement of “Winter Wonderland,” by Andy Beck, “A Friend in Winter,” by Ruth and Scott Schram, and “Changamano” (which in Swahili means “Join Together”), by Albrecht and Althouse. The season wouldn’t be complete without a couple of fun, lively pieces, including “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” from Dr. Seuss, and a medley from the Tim Burton film, “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” arranged by Alan Billingsley.
OCCC’s Central County Campus is located at 400 SE College Way. “Catch the Wave,” the college’s schedule of non-credit community education and small business classes for winter term, should be arriving at Lincoln County mailboxes by the day of the concert, and extra copies will be available at OCCC’s locations in Newport, Waldport and Lincoln City.
