Newport Library’s Centennial Book Challenge extended to Dec. 31

It’s not too late to join the Centennial Book Challenge. The Newport Public Library kicked off celebrations for its 100th year in September. As part of an effort to celebrate the centennial at the library, staff has extended the Centennial Book Challenge to read 100 books from Sept. 1, 2019, to Dec. 31, 2020. Library staff stated that the extension was made due to COVID-19. Anyone is welcome to take the Centennial Book Challenge at the Newport Public Library: 35 NW Nye St., Newport.

Read 100 books — or ebooks or audiobooks — and win prizes along the way. Participants can receive a prize for every 25 books read by bringing their reading log to a library take-out appointment. For more information about the library take-out service, visit https://newportoregon.gov/dept/lib/takeout.asp.

The Centennial Book Challenge is free, open to the public and proudly sponsored by the Newport Library Foundation. For more information, visit www.newportlibrary.org or call 541-265-2153.
