For the ninth year, the Newport High School Robotics & Engineering Club will be partnering with Lincoln County to sell county surplus items. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 12 and 13 at the Lincoln County surplus warehouse, located in the alley just east of the courthouse. Parking is available in the courthouse lot and on the south side of the building. Items may include, but are not limited to: office chairs, metal desks, tables, shelving, cabinets, office supplies and computers without hard drives or memory. All proceeds will be donated to the Robotics & Engineering Club, to help with their club expenses.
NHS Robotics & Engineering Club is beginning their 14th year of learning about engineering and robotics. One of the club's focuses is on recycling and over the past 14 years, with the partnerships of Lincoln County and Thompson's Sanitary, they have managed to recycle over 80 tons — about a quarter of that being environmentally polluting e-waste.
