Newport Grad Night Committee raising funds

The Newport High School Grad Night Committee is hard at work to continue the tradition of providing a fun and safe grad night celebration that will become a lifetime memory for the Class of 2021. 

This year’s event will look a bit different than years past — the year has been traumatic for the students, and the committee wants to try and give these graduating seniors something to celebrate. They have already missed out on many milestones this past year, not to mention that statistics show that since the onset of drug and alcohol free “Grad Night” events, there has been a significant reduction in teen fatalities associated with graduation night.

The committee is conducting the 2021 Grad Night Raffle at a smaller scale due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Historically, the raffle has constituted the bulk of the committee’s fundraising, and without it, the event would surely be less memorable. The monies generated from the raffle are spent entirely on the party venue for food, transportation, security and entertainment.

Since the committee is having to reduce its fundraising efforts and events due to the pandemic, they are hoping for support from the community. Any contribution, whether it be financial or a donation in kind, will be greatly appreciated. The Grad Night Committee is a nonprofit organization, and therefore donations are tax deductible.
