Newport Chamber celebrates Chamber of Commerce Week

The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce is celebrating National Chamber of Commerce Week Sept. 14-18. This week is nationally recognized to educate the public about what chambers are and what they do in their communities.

According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, “a chamber of commerce is a voluntary partnership of businesses and professionals working together to build a healthy economy and improve the quality of life in a community.”

The Newport Chamber is a nonprofit organization of more than 500 local businesses, organizations and individuals working together to accomplish these goals. The chamber does this through the functions as a tourist information center, business spokesperson, government relations advocate, event planner and public relations practitioner, among other functions.

In honor of National Chamber of Commerce Week, the Newport Chamber is conducting a new membership value drive through Sept. 18. New chamber members will receive six additional months of membership benefits for the price of an annual 12-month membership. Any businesses interested in joining are invited to learn more about how chamber membership can benefit them.
