Newport Chamber banquet and auction is April 20


‘Run for the Roses’ is this year’s theme

A week's stay in Hawaii, a hot air balloon ride for three, a spa treatment and stay for two at Salishan Resort, and a Gentleman’s Waterfowl Hunt Package are among the items up for grabs at the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce annual Banquet & Balloon Auction. People can make reservations now for the April 20 event, which will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Agate Beach Inn.

A themed-dinner buffet, games, activities and entertainment are included in the admission price, along with an opportunity to bid on exclusive silent and live auction items — there’s something for everyone. This year’s theme is Run for the Roses, and prizes will be awarded for the best Kentucky Derby inspired attire.

This event is an opportunity to advertise your business while treating yourself, your employees and friends to an enjoyable evening out. Reservations are $50 per person or $500 for a sponsor table of eight. Purchasing a table includes eight tickets, recognition in the auction catalog and at chamber events prior to the auction and acclaim on social media. Other sponsorship levels are available, too.

“I’m really excited about this year’s Banquet & Balloon Auction,” said Jeanette Campagna, the chamber’s membership and business programs coordinator. “The fact that everyone looks forward to it every year makes it that much more fun to surprise guests with all the planned activities. I love all the energy and enthusiasm for the event, it’s so contagious. Our committee has been working overtime to plan the event. We couldn’t pull it off without our tireless volunteers and tons of community generosity.”

This night of fun is the main fundraising event of the year for the Newport Chamber, an organization that supports and promotes local businesses in Newport and the surrounding economic areas. Funds raised will be used year-round in programming and support of business and tourism, such as Business After Hours, weekly networking luncheons, Young Professionals, “Know Your Newport” hospitality training, annual awards banquet, Newport Chamber Ambassadors, beautification, business referrals, the visitor center and tourism efforts, affiliate memberships and advocacy for the Newport business community.
