Neskowin Ghost Forest

The remnants of an ancient Sitka spruce forest — known as the Neskowin Ghost Forest — are visible during extremely low tides near Proposal Rock, which is part of the Neskowin Beach State Recreation Site north of Cascade Head. The stumps at Neskowin are 2,000 years old, according to carbon dating. While living, the trees that make up the Neskowin Ghost Forest were similar to a present-day coastal rain forest and stood 150 to 200 feet high.
