‘Musician’s Living Room’ series continues Saturday

The Newport Symphony Orchestra is continuing its series called “Musician’s Living Room” this Saturday, Nov. 21.

NSO Music Director Adam Flatt said these interactive, online evenings “will take you into the living rooms of NSO stars who will share their fascinating collections of instruments, perform and share their lives as musicians in Newport and beyond. You will share conversation with the musician and me as we welcome you into their homes and lives.”

This Saturday’s event features Katherine Evans on the topic “All About Trumpets.” Evans is the principal trumpet of the Newport Symphony Orchestra, and in addition to her symphony playing, she has a secondary career focus in baroque music, both in the baroque trumpet sub-specialty and as a vocalist. She will demonstrate her rare, handmade Spanish trumpet and other instruments and will share her life as a brass player of unusual versatility. Evans is a Harvard graduate and a resident of Vancouver, BC.

Future events in this series are: Casey Bozell, “What is the Concertmaster?” on Jan. 10, 2021; and Martha Griffith, “The Seductive Sound of the Harp,” on March 12, 2021.

Each event begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for this Saturday’s event are $30. (More than one device linkage will require an additional purchase.)
