The M. J. Murdock Charitable Trust has approved a $400,000 grant to support the Oregon Coast Aquarium’s new renovation project. The Aquarium has a significant renovation plan for the facility. Funding from the Murdock Trust will help get Phase I underway, with groundbreaking planned for fall 2019.
“We are excited about our renovation plans and grateful to Murdock Trust for supporting our efforts to improve the visitor experience at the Oregon Coast Aquarium,” said Carrie Lewis, president and CEO at the aquarium.
The first phase of the project will include modifying the entryway and grand hall with more windows, a children’s nature play area and outdoor headwaters feature, a wider entrance and large tank in the cafe area — as well as more indoor seating and improved outdoor seating — and new ticket offices and new landscaping, as shown in the illustration above.
