A series of mosaic classes will be held in the coming weeks at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, located at 540 NE Highway 101. They will be taught by mosaic artist Joanne Daschel in Studio #1 on the lower level at the center.

The schedule of classes is as follows:

  • Create A Glass Mosaic Suncatcher — Sunday, Nov. 25 or Dec. 2, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants will learn to use basic tools to shape stained glass for a brilliant, mosaic artwork to hang in a window. They will explore transparent and opaque glass, design basics and how to safely cut glass. The instructor will do the grouting and mail students their projects (included in the class fee). The cost is $60, which includes materials, use of tools and refreshments.

  • Create A Glass Mosaic Nightlight — Saturday, Dec. 8 or Dec. 15, 10 a.m. to noon.

In this fun, short workshop, people will make a glass-on-glass mosaic nightlight with stained glass. They will learn to safely cut glass with easy tools and shape them into a design of their own or use one of the templates. Leave the piece for the instructor to grout and it can be picked up the next day, or arrangements can be made to ship it. The cost is $30, which includes materials, use of tools and refreshments.

  • Mosaic Mondays — Nov. 26, Dec. 3, 10 and 17, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Mosaic mentoring on your project, for students with previous mosaic experience. Use the available tools and studio space. Students bring materials or purchase them at the studio for a specific project. The cost is $15 per session (or four sessions for $40). Materials not included.

  • Private Mosaic Workshops

Schedule a private "art party" for you and your friends. Group sizes range from four to 10. The cost is based on the project selected. Contact the studio to make arrangements.
