Missing Florida woman found in Lincoln City

LINCOLN CITY — A 19-year-old woman reported missing out of Florida drove herself to the Lincoln City Police Department Monday to talk to officers there after she was a passenger in a high-speed car chase following at least one Lincoln City police officer seeing her with several unidentified people outside Sea Gypsy Rentals.

Upon discovery by Lincoln City Police, the young woman got into a silver Mitsubishi Highlander SUV with New York license plates and the driver took off at a high speed. The driver and the young woman were last seen in the car around West Devils Lake Road and Lake Drive before police lost the car. The car was found abandoned Monday evening on private property near Northeast 30th Street and Mast Drive and police seized the vehicle.

The missing person tip on the young woman was issued by the FBI, and after she came to the Lincoln City Police Department to talk to detectives there, officers put her on a plane to PDX before her return home.

“She’d been in contact with members of this party and was offered a job of some kind out here,” said Lincoln City Police Chief Jerry Palmer. “She came here with them and it didn’t work out the way they told her it would.”

Lincoln City Police are working on getting warrants for the suspects. If members of the public have any information on the people involved in the incident, call the Lincoln City Police Department at 541-994-3636.
