Medicare 101 presentation in Newport

Older adults are invited to learn about their Medicare choices and next steps at a Medicare 101 educational workshop at the Newport 60+ Activity Center on Thursday, June 20, at 2 p.m. During the one-hour presentation, they will gain the knowledge needed to make informed decisions and to pick a plan that works best for them when the time comes. Participants will learn about:

  • When to enroll in original Medicare Parts A and B;
  • How to avoid Part B and Part D penalties;
  • The difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans;
  • What the Part D prescription coverage gap is (otherwise known as the “donut hole”);
  • What they should know if they’re still working and participating in an employer-sponsored plan when they turn 65;
  • What they need to know if they’re currently participating in a Health Savings Account (HSA) and are, or soon will be, eligible for Medicare.

Presenter Audra Fullan is a Regence Medicare sales executive in Oregon, representing both Medicare Advantage and Medigap plans. She works with the senior population holding educational events, sales seminars and participating in health fairs as well as being active in Meals-on-Wheels and other community events. She also works with independent health insurance agents who represent Regence to their clients as a Medicare option.

The Newport 60+ Activity Center is located at 20 SE Second St.
