Maryse Goebel February 19, 1948-July 17, 2020.
Maryse Goebel, 72, passed away peacefully in her home on the afternoon of July 17th. She was surrounded by friends and family as she said her final goodbyes.
Maryse was born in Glasgow, Scotland to James and Helen (Mickey) Wright. As a child she lived in the U.K. and Canada before immigrating to the United States as a teenager. Early in her career she worked as a labor and delivery nurse helping to bring hundreds of babies into the world. Later in life she acquired her Master’s degree in social work and went on to a life of service helping the people of Oregon and Washington states.
Maryse could hold a conversation with anyone and often did. People were drawn to her calm voice, good advice, friendly smile and laughter. Maryse had a passion for reading. She was known to always have a stack of books that she was quickly working her way through. Eventually she became an author herself, publishing her own book on the topic of spirituality.
Maryse loved animals of all kinds and would spend hours anywhere that she could spend time with them. She also had an immense love for music, especially classical.
Maryse is survived by her daughter Kiera Giordan and her grandchildren Sebastian and Sophia.
Maryse asked to not have a memorial service, just to be remembered fondly in peoples’ hearts.
