Mary Louise Nygaard, 75, was born June 10th, 1943 in Spokane, Washington to Jim & June Banta. At the time of her birth both parents worked at the mine in Kellog Idaho. Mary soon moved to Salmon, Idaho, where she lived and was raised by her grandparents Bill & Roberta Kirkpatrick. She went to high school and graduated from Challis, Idaho. In 1961 Mary married her high school sweetheart Chuck Jenson and had two sons Bart (1961) and Brent (1964). In 1966 she divorced and met a man named Jim Nygaard and soon married. Jim was in the National Guard and was soon stationed in the town of Milton Freewater, OR where they raised their two sons. Mary spent most of her career working as an advertising salesperson at the Walla Walla Union Bulletin. She worked at the paper while training to take her real estate exam. She received her Oregon Real Estate License and went on to become a broker for Jeffries Real Estate in Milton Freewater, OR.
Jim passed away in 1982 and Mary moved to the Portland area where she worked at RFD Publications.
Mary got tired of the fast paced city life and moved to Newport where she worked and retired in 2007 from the News-Times, all the while selling real estate as a principle broker for Emerald Coast Realty. She was the longest broker that Emerald Coast Realty had ever had!

Mary was a wonderful mother, friend, wife, and acquaintance. She loved to help the homeless in giving
the couch in her living room to whoever needed a place to sleep.
She will be missed and always remembered.
