Marilyn Mae (Wurl) Pratt

May 30, 1936 — July 22, 2017

Marilyn was born May 30, 1936 in Yakima, Washington, to Myrtle Esther (Borchardt) Wurl and Carl E. Wurl.
She died July 22, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis after a brief illness. She was 81. Marilyn graduated from Yakima Valley Senior High School in 1954. She married Gary Wallace Pratt on Nov. 24, 1954 in Yakima. Gary passed away Nov. 24, 2005, their 51st wedding anniversary.
Marilyn moved to Corvallis in 1961 where she was a homemaker and member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She and Gary owned and operated Kimo’s Drive Inn on Ninth Street during 1972 and 1973. She later worked for Dr. Glen Bending.
She moved to Waldport (Bayshore) in 1978 and in l981 began a new career in real estate with Waldport Realty until her retirement in early 2000. While there, she was recognized as top producer many times and well known up and down the Oregon Coast.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where she played the organ on Sundays. She was also a member of Oregon Coastal Quilters and Bayshore Quilters.
Marilyn loved playing the piano and ukulele, quilting, reading, camping and spending time at the cabin “Pratt’s Place” on the Alsea River. In her later years, she loved starting new quilting projects and completing the unfinished ones (many say she had the smallest, most perfect hand quilting stitches), having visitors and phone calls.
Survivors include daughter Pam Burright and husband, Kent of Corvallis; son Jeff Pratt and wife, Debbie of Corvallis; three grandchildren, Kevin Burright, Kristy Burright and Tammy Pratt; and two great-grandchildren, Brittney and Brody. She is also survived by brother, Jack Wurl of Yakima, Washington; sisters Georgia Reyer and Nancy (Terry) Fortier of Yakima; a large extended family and numerous friends.
She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 38 Bayview Road in Waldport.
