An Oregon State Police officer responded to a driving complaint shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5. A witness reported seeing a vehicle speeding, failing to maintain the lane of travel and passing in no passing zones.
The state trooper pulled over the vehicle just north of Lincoln City near milepost 112 on Highway 101. The driver, identified as Kip Rufus Funk, 51, of Neotsu, exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested for DUII-alcohol, reckless driving and driving while suspended. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .07 percent an hour and a half after the arrest.
The vehicle was towed by Car Care of Lincoln City.
Chip truck overturns on Highway 20
The Oregon State Police responded to a crash on Highway 20 that occurred near Sams Creek Road at around 3:10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7
A fully loaded chip truck was headed west when, for an unknown reason, the Peterbilt truck crossed over the eastbound lane and went over the embankment. The truck rolled onto the driver side and came to a rest in the creek. Several gallons of fuel leaked into the waterway, according to OSP.
The driver, identified as Jared Glenn Hand, 26, of Lebanon, was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport. The truck was later towed from the scene by Rowley’s Towing of South Beach.
The Oregon Department of Transportation, NWFF Environmental and Pacific West Ambulance assisted at the scene.
Man arrested for violating no contact order
An Oregon State Police officer stopped alongside Highway 101 north of Lincoln City at around 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, to assist a motorist near milepost 105, whose vehicle had just struck a deer.
After the two occupants of the vehicle provided their names to the officer, they told him they were going to continue on their way and departed southbound. A routine warrants check on the male passenger in the vehicle came back with no record found.
The state trooper followed the car into a business parking lot in Lincoln City and again made contact with the passenger, who provided a different name and informed the officer that he had a no contact order with the driver. This no contact order was confirmed, and the passenger, identified as William Ray Slemp, 28, was arrested on a charge of violating a restraining order. He was lodged in the Lincoln County Jail.
Woman jailed for violating restraining order
An Oregon State Trooper pulled over a vehicle for a driving violation on the evening of Monday, Nov. 11, near milepost 11 on Highway 18 east of Lincoln City.
Upon contact with the occupants, it was learned that a passenger, Chelsea O. Tekverk, 34, of Vancouver, Wash., was prohibited by court order from having contact with the driver. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where she was lodged on a no contact order violation.
