Major Mike Mesarch April 1951-August 2020
Major Mike Mesarch was 69 years of age when he passed on to heaven peacefully at home, in his sleep. During the last nine months Mike battled Cancer which was caused by a lifetime of Hemochromatosis or Iron Overload. Michael grew up in Marion, MA and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1971-1974. He graduated from UMASS, AMHERST in 1979 with a B.A. in History and a teaching license and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant Infantry, after three years in the Army Reserve 187th Infantry in 1994. He met his beloved wife of 36 years, Joan, in 1984. Together they traveled extensively, downhill skied the many great slopes of Colorado and Utah and enjoyed the entire premier Hot Springs in the American West and British Columbia, Canada.
After 20 years of service in the Army, Mike then served 20 years in the Job Corps Program for Youth and retired from his assignment at Angell Job Corps, Yachats, OR where he was the manager of the residential living department. He had a reputation of being considerate to all.
In 2018 he and three other reinstated the Lincoln County Republican Party. He along with other Patriots marched in the local parades, entered booths at the Local Fairs and supported local candidates. He served as Lincoln County Party Vice Chairman and Waldport Precinct Leader. Hel lived his life with character, class, courtesy and courage. He is survived by his wife Joan, son Chad, daughter-in-law Robyn and two grandsons, Curraun and Connor, brother, Victor and sister Christine.
A Memorial Service for Mike will be held at Bateman Funeral Home, 915 Yaquina Heights DR, Newport, OR on August 18, 2020 at 12:00 noon
