‘Macbeth’ showing at Newport Performing Arts Center

National TheatreLive in HD

The National Theatre 2018 season continues with the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts presentation of “Macbeth” live in HD at 7 p.m. today (Friday), Sept. 7, at the Newport Performing Arts Center, 777 W Olive St.

Shakespeare’s most intense and terrifying tragedy, directed by Rufus Norris, sees Rory Kinnear and Anne-Marie Duff return to the National Theatre to play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. In the ruined aftermath of a bloody civil war, ruthlessly fighting to survive, the Macbeths are propelled toward the crown by forces of elemental darkness.

National Theatre Live is an initiative by the UK’s National Theatre to broadcast live performances onto cinema screens around the world. Since its first season, which began in June 2009, millions have now experienced the National’s work on movie screens worldwide.

OCCA appreciates the support of the Jeannette Hofer Fund at the Oregon Community Foundation and the City of Newport, as well as season benefactors Bill and JoAnn Barton and individual event sponsors, which makes it possible to show NT Live in HD productions at the PAC.

Ticket prices are $16 for adults, $13 for seniors and $11 for students. Buy tickets online at newportpac.com, at the PAC box office, or by calling 541-265-ARTS (2787). Box office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (excepting holidays), and one hour prior to performance times.
