The annual Loyalty Day 2-mile run/walk will be held at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, just prior to the start of the Loyalty Day Parade.

The race begins on Highway 101 next to Walmart and travels south down the highway to the finish line. The highway will be closed to all regular traffic while the race and parade are going on. All participants get a ribbon at the finish line.

People can pre-register online at getmeregistered.com (enter “Loyalty Day” in the search bar). The cost is $3 for students ages 18 and under, and $10 for adults. If registering online, people have the option to purchase a T-shirt for an additional cost.

People can also register on the day of the event, beginning at 8 a.m. at SamFit, located at 1111 SW 10th St. in Newport. Buses will transport participants to the starting line from SamFit.

The Lincoln County school with the most participants will win $500 for the school. When registering, be sure to note which school your student attends. All students and their parents are invited to participate in this fun annual event, the longest running run/walk in Lincoln County.

This event is supported by longtime sponsor Pepsi (Bigfoot Beverages). Proceeds benefit the Newport High School Cross Country Team.
