The City of Newport Library, Recreation Center, and Aquatic Center are closed effective Saturday, March 14. All programs associated with these three facilities and the 60+ Activity Center are canceled until further notice.
The City of Newport has canceled all municipal court sessions until April 29. Anyone with a court date prior to April 29 will receive a letter rescheduling their case to a different date.
All Newport Fire Stations will be closed to visitors and the public until further notice. The main station on Northwest 10th Street will continue to be staffed to respond to emergencies. The public may continue to call the main business line, (541) 265-9461, with questions. The fire department will not issue any new burn permits. Current burn permit holders may call to activate a permit for that day. In an emergency, please dial or text 911. There is a call button near the front of each fire station that will contact on-duty personnel.
The Lincoln City Cultural Center will cancel all visual and performing arts events through April 7.
The Lincoln City Culinary center will close from March 17 through April 17. The City will hold municipal court on March 17 and strict social distancing will be enforced. The court will then be closed until April 17.
Lincoln City Planning Commission meetings will be canceled until April 17.
Driftwood Public Library in Lincoln City will close March 17 through April 17. The library will develop alternative service delivery options and will provide this information on web and social media sites.

Lincoln County Parks office, located at 880 NE Seventh St. will be closed to public access until further notice. Services will continue by phone, email and by appointment. The Lincoln County Parks Department will not be accepting reservations for group sites at Moonshine County Park, until further notice. Moonshine Park - The A-Loop and day use at the park remain open. The group area and B-Loop will remain closed until further notice. Elk City Park - The day use area will remain open. The campground will open on April 1. Jack Morgan Park - The day use area will remain open. The campground will open on April 1. All other day use parks and boat ramps will remain open.
The Oregon Coast Aquarium announced it will close March 16 until at least March 31.
Chinook Winds Casino and Golf Course closed operations effective March 17, and the hotel will close operations March 18. The casino, golf course and hotel will be closed through March.
Rental of the Depoe Bay Community Hall has been suspended until further notice.
Central Lincoln P.U.D.'s offices are closed through March 31 – customer service and other staff will be available by phone during business hours. No shutoffs will be made during that time, and late fees will be waived.
The Greater Toledo Pool is closed effective March 13 until further notice.
Waldport Chamber Thursday luncheon meetings are all canceled until further notice.
The Recess Outdoor Adventure School at Toledo Library is closed with an expected return date of April 2.
The Oregon State University Lincoln County Extension Office will be closed to the public beginning March 16th through the end of the month.
The Rotary Club of Lincoln City has canceled its weekly meetings until April 1.
Newport Rotary Club has canceled its remaining meetings in March and is next scheduled to meet April 2.
Newport Reads 2020 events are canceled.
Yachats City Hall, library and the Little Log Church are closed to the public, and all non-essential meetings in city buildings are canceled until at least April 8. The Friends of the Library will set up a bookshelf outside the 501 Building for the duration of the shutdown.
The Yachats City Commons is closed to the public as of March 17, 2020. This includes all activities.
The Yachats Community Food Pantry has temporarily moved to the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church, 360 7th St Yachats, East Door. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Gov. Kate Brown has ordered the closure of all state K-12 schools until April 28.
The Early Learning Division is not requiring child care facilities to close at this time.
Oregon State Parks
Whale Watch Week, March 21-29, will be a do-it-yourself event, with no volunteers or gear provided. The Depoe Bay Whale Watch Center is closed and will remain so during Whale Watch Week and beyond.
Otter Crest State Scenic Viewpoint Cape Foulweather Gift Shop is closed.
Three Oregon state agencies will suspend camping to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department will accommodate current overnight guests through April 2. Reservations for all state park stays from April 3 to and including May 8 will be canceled and site fees refunded. Before May 8, the department will review the state park campground closure to decide whether it should be extended. The decision affects all individual and group overnight facilities: campsites, yurts, cabins, tepees, and services operated by concessionaires. The suspended service also affects reservations for group day-use areas.
The Oregon Department of Forestry maintains campgrounds in the Clatsop, Santiam, and Tillamook State Forests. Most campgrounds are currently closed for the season, and will not reopen for individual or group use. Year-round campgrounds will close starting on Monday, March 23. All day-use and campground restrooms are temporarily closed due to limited janitorial services. A reopening date for all restrooms and state forest campgrounds has not yet been determined. During this time, trails, forest roads and trailheads on state forestlands will remain open to the public.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is closing its Wildlife Areas to overnight camping effective Sunday, March 22. The closure affects both dispersed camping and established campgrounds. Several wildlife areas are also currently fully or partially closed to all visitors as part of annual seasonal closures to protect wintering wildlife. While camping will be prohibited, wildlife areas that are currently open remain open to visitors for day-use activities including wildlife viewing, fishing, hunting and other outdoor recreation.
Specific cancellations and postponements
The Newport Performing Arts Center has postponed the March 13 showing of the documentary “#AnneFrank,” and a live broadcast of the New York City Metropolitan Opera on March 14 has been rescheduled. New dates for these events will be announced in the future.
A March 16 talk on climate change at the Driftwood Library has been canceled with the intent to reschedule.
North Lincoln Fire and Rescue's open house scheduled for March 21 is canceled until further notice.
Newport Symphony Orchestra’s concert “Grandeur and Passion,” scheduled for March 21 and 22 at the performing arts center, has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
The Cape Perpetua Visitor Center administration has postponed the remainder of its Saturday speaker events for March.
Red Octopus Theatre Company announced it will postpone its April 3-19 production of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” The show will now run from Jan. 22 to Feb. 7, 2021.
The Gleneden Beach Community Club will not hold their regular monthly breakfast on Sunday, April 5th.
The Hatfield Marine Marine Science Center announced the cancellation of this year’s Marine Science Day, scheduled to be held April 11.
The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce announced that its annual Banquet and Balloon Auction, scheduled for April 11, will not be held. The chamber has also canceled Young Professionals on Wednesday, March 18; Business after Hours on Thursday, March 19; Ambassadors on Friday, March 20; and Chamber Luncheons on March 20 and 27.
The Newport Lions Club Easter egg hunt scheduled for April 11 has bee canceled.
Toledo Elks annual Easter egg hunt scheduled for April 12 at the Toledo Elks park "Tokatee Illahee" in Siletz is canceled this year.
Depoe Bay Annual Crab Feed and Wooden Boat Show scheduled for April 18-19 is canceled.
The 15th Annual Birding and Blues Festival will be held in Pacific City scheduled for Friday, April 17 to April 19 has been postponed with a new date to be determined
