For those both cynical and romantic, a comedy show coming to the Newport Performing Arts Center may be the perfect place to be on Feb. 15. “Comedy for Lovers” will feature two comedians plying their trade on the hottest date night of the year.
Opening the evening is Greg Beachler, one of the Northwest's fastest rising comedians. A 36-year-old divorced father of two, Beachler blends his family life and his mixed race into topical humor extremely relevant in today's society.
After yukking it up to Beachler’s natural penchant for storytelling and observation, headliner Phillip Kopczynski will head out on stage to rock the PAC for the evening.
A self-described “reluctant nice guy” and father, Kopczynski was born and raised in the mountains of eastern Washington, where he started comedy at age 11 doing pratfalls to make his sister with Down Syndrome laugh. While he began his career by working in corporate America for a decade, Kopczynski has broken strongly onto the comedy scene: he placed second at the 2018 Seattle International Comedy Competition and has performed from Vancouver, British Columbia to Orlando, Fla. Venue owners have deemed him funny enough to work with Dennis Miller, Bert Kreischer, Theo Vonn, Sarah Colonna, Tim Meadows, Jay Mohr, Jubal Flagg, Dan Cummins and many famous and semi-famous people.
Those wishing to attend the show must be 18 years or older. The one-night-only event will begin at 8 p.m. on Feb. 15. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the box office, by phone at 541-265-2787 or online at www.coastarts.org.
