Neighbors For Kids (NFK) is offering “picnic baskets” every Monday and Thursday, from 4 to 6 p.m. Staff members are preparing healthy, kid-friendly meals and fun enrichment activities to support local families.
NFK is a sponsor of the Oregon Department of Education’s Child Nutrition Program, so all children ages 1 to 18 can receive five days of freshly prepared breakfasts and lunches.
Thanks to the ODE Farm to School grant, every week these baskets have enrichment supplies, ingredients and fun projects for children. Activities focus on Oregon agriculture, health, culinary arts and gardening. For example, this month, kids are learning about apples harvested in the state, and they get to prepare and enjoy their own fresh apple pies.
In addition to picnic baskets, the Kids Zone is offering “Zoomies,” a new online club held every Wednesday, for both preschool and school-age youth. It offers a variety of social, physical and hands-on activities in a safe, supervised virtual platform.
For more information, to sign up your child, or to pick up picnic baskets at the site, send an email to [email protected] NFK’s youth facility is located at 634 SE Highway 101 in Depoe Bay.
